XIII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT OF ACADEMIC LIBRARIES
The XIII international scientific and practical conference "modern trends in the development of academic libraries" was held at Taraz University named after M. H. Dulati. This year's meeting was dedicated to the topic "library in the age of artificial intelligence: international experience and the national AI-SANA program", special attention was paid to the role of digitalization and artificial intelligence in the development of library science.
The purpose of the conference is to create a platform for the exchange of experience between domestic and foreign specialists in the direction of modernizing the activities of academic libraries, the widespread introduction of digital technologies and the effective use of artificial intelligence capabilities.
The meeting was attended by representatives of international organizations, scientific publishing houses, information platforms and universities from Turkey, China, Russia, Belarus and Uzbekistan.
The chairman of the management board – Rector Lyazzat Erkinbayeva noted that the process of digital transformation of academic libraries is a matter of time, noting that the effective introduction of modern information technologies and artificial intelligence tools will contribute to improving the quality of education and strengthening the effectiveness of scientific research. The rector noted that libraries are becoming not only a place of storage of information, but also an intellectual center that unites education and science. The rector noted the importance of international cooperation and exchange of experience in this direction.
During the conference, it was discussed that academic libraries today are turning from a traditional center for preserving knowledge into intellectual centers directly integrated into the educational and research process. Special attention was also paid to the issues of introducing digital technologies, expanding access to international scientific databases and increasing the efficiency of searching, analyzing information and supporting scientific activities through the use of artificial intelligence tools. In addition, the role of university libraries in the development of information literacy, increasing the activity of scientific publications and ensuring the visibility of research results in international databases was emphasized. The development of library and information infrastructure at Dulati university is considered as a key factor in improving the quality of education and scientific research.
Sergey Ivanov, director of EDP Hub - Kazakhstan, said that the introduction of new technologies will improve the library's activities and facilitate access to information. He also noted that the use of artificial intelligence will improve the quality of work with scientific information and give a new impetus to the educational process.
One of the most important cultural events of the conference was the presentation of the book of Kazakh origin "QAZAQ FASHION", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Alla Ilchun, who left a special mark on the world fashion industry. Alla Ilchun was the muse of the famous Christian Dior, and her life and work occupy an important place in the history of the international fashion industry. President of the Association of Kazakhs in France, economist and Forbes.kz the author of the magazine" QAZAQ FASHION " Berlin Irishev took a special part and noted the importance of the book at the international level. In his speech, he noted that this work is an important work that determines the place of Kazakh culture in the world fashion industry. He said that the promotion of the heritage of Alla Ilchun at the international level is a great achievement.
The tape of the book was made by the chairman of the management board – Rector Lyazzat Erkinbaeva, director of the company "EDP Hub - Kazakhstan" Sergey Ivanov and head of the Department of digitalization and archives of the akimat of Zhambyl region Shalkhar Amanturov.
In an online format, Leslie Weir, president of the International Federation of Library Associations and institutions (IFLA), spoke about the trends in the development of the library industry at the global level. He noted that today the role of libraries in promoting digital transformation and the principles of open science is growing. He also drew attention to the importance of international cooperation and noted that joint initiatives and projects within the framework of IFLA contribute to strengthening the potential of libraries.
During the conference, exhibitions of modern information resources were organized, participants were presented with software products for digital libraries, electronic databases, automated systems and innovative platforms. During the exhibition, the latest technological solutions for the digitization of library activities were shown, which aroused great interest among the participants. This exhibition has become a platform for the broad presentation of new opportunities and international experience in the field of library.
At the end of the conference, topical issues aimed at developing the library industry were discussed and new technological solutions were proposed.
